The revised Bulldozer is quite an improvement compared the first generation. It maybe don’t beat the I7 in games but in apps this CPU is unbeatable and cost half the price. We can see this very well in the CPU Mark / $ Price comparison. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-8350+Eight-Core

I had to update my board too because somehow the board was not capable of using 4xddr3 4gb modules with this CPU. My old Phenom2 x6 didn’t had any problems with it. Now the heart of my build is a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD990FX board which pretty much rocks.

I think I’m good now for the next 3 years with my build (hopefully ).

I want to mention also Dell. They have with there twitter account https://twitter.com/DellCares an amazing support and I got my broken screen within days replaced. Thumbs up guys. If you have problems then try twitter first.

Finally I have it now and I’m so far very happy with it. In general the OS is great and a lot faster than Win7. I have a bit trouble with eyefinity. Startscreen tiles are cut between the screens and Metro apps are almost not usable with eyefinity and 3 screens. Because they are fullscreen there content is random placed between the screens. There where you can scroll between left and ride it is usable but other screens are a little pain (But the maps app looks impressive). Metro should be more intelligent and consider the fact, that there is more than one screen connected – yeah I know eyefinity is considered as one complete screen-resolution… …anyway.

Maybe this will change one day. As long I’m going to use as it like a Win7 with extras.

A lot of you know Chris Roberts, for those who don’t know him: Chris Roberts is the creator of the Wing Commander Series and Freelancer. After almost 10 years of movie biz Chris is back and wants to make us happy with a new master piece called “Star Citizen”.

The game will be financed via crowdfunding. Goal is to reach 2 million USD. A bit over one million is already in. Here some some words from Chris:

“The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated”

The traditional publishers don’t believe in PC or Space Sims. Venture Capitalists only want to back mobile or social gaming startups.

I say they’re wrong. I say that there is a large audience of PC gamers that want sophisticated games built for their platform. And inside this audience, a significant group of people that have always loved space games, and if given a quality one again will be happy to play it.

Please contribute to this fantastic project.
So far I’m going now with a “new” AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Processor, which was with 129$ and free ground shipping in special at Direct Canada. To keep it cool for overclocking I spend her a Corsair Air Series A70 Dual-Fan CPU Cooler, which is in fact a monster and was for $29 at NCIX. Be sure when you buy one, that you have enough place in your case. Specially it can get problems with the installed memory. I was lucky and my G.SKILL Ripjaws X memory was not to high. Finally I overclocked the CPU to 3905.87 MHz which stays calm and stable at 43 degrees under prime95 and all other benchmarks. With the stock cooler it was going up to 62 degrees. Without load 24 degrees.

Here the CPU-Z result: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2219205
